Clarksville, TN – In case you couldn’t stay up and watch the uber-late contests between against the Dodgers and Padres, you’re in luck. I did. I also had some stray observations.

        • Yasiel Puig is really, really good. The ball jumps off his bat in an effortless way that’s unusual. His eighth-inning grand slam in the opener was a long ball on a smooth swing. This influx of Cuban talent the last few years (Puig, Yoenis Cespedes, Aroldis Chapman) has been good for the fans; I’m hopeful the Braves will land a guy like that one year.
        • The Dodgers have a perpetual ‘You talking to me, bro?’ swagger about them (for full details, see their brawl with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday). It’s a little bit odd for a 28-37 team, but that’s Don Mattingly’s problem for at least a little while longer. «Read the rest of this article»
