        Austin Peay Lady Govs LogoClarksville, TN -  Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Carrie Daniels has announced that sophomore guards Shira Buley and Shelby Olszewski have left the program to pursue other opportunities.

        Buley, of Knoxville, is expected to transfer following the end of the current academic semester. She played in 21 contests during the 2012-13 season, starting 11, and averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 assists per game. «Read the rest of this article»

        Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN -  Austin Peay State University’s baseball team scored the game’s first seven runs in a 10-6 Ohio Valley Conference victory against Belmont, Sunday afternoon at Raymond C. Hand Park.

        Austin Peay (28-12, 11-6) won the three-game series against Belmont (27-11, 14-4 OVC), 2-1, and snapped a stretch where it lost back-to-back OVC series.

        Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin grants release to Makanjuola

        UT VolsKnoxville, TN - Tennessee basketball coach Cuonzo Martin announced Saturday that center Yemi Makanjuola has been granted a release and may transfer to another program.

        “Yemi and I came to a mutual agreement that it would be in his best interest for him to get a fresh start with a new program,” Martin said. “Yemi is leaving Tennessee on good terms. He’s respected by his teammates and coaches, we all appreciate the work he’s put in during his time here and I’m confident that he’ll be successful.”

        During his two-year career with the Volunteers, the Lagos, Nigeria, native appeared in 57 contests and averaged 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 8.0 minutes per game. «Read the rest of this article»

        Titans Quarterback Jake Locker launches team’s tour through the Mid-South on April 29th

        Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have announced the complete itinerary for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Titans Caravan, a regional series of school visits and free, public autograph signings. The Caravan will make 44 total stops in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama from April 29th through May 10th.

        The Titans Caravan will be in Clarksville, TN at the Krogers, located at 2100 Lowes Drive, on Tuesday April 30th starting at 5:30pm.

        Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN - Austin Peay’s baseball team begins the second half of its Ohio Valley Conference race when it hosts league-leading Belmont in a three-game series, beginning with a 6:00pm, Friday contest at Raymond C. Hand Park.  The Govs have lost their last two OVC series – to second-place Tennessee Tech and fifth-place Southeast Missouri – entering this weekend’s set yet remain fourth in the league race.   Belmont has powered out to a 13-2 OVC mark at the halfway point with one loss in its last 12 league outings – an April 6th loss at UT Martin.

        Tennessee signs mid-state guard

        Knoxville, TN - Tennessee basketball coach Cuonzo Martin announced Wednesday that in-state guard Darius Thompson has signed a National Letter of Intent to become a student-athlete at UT. Thompson is expected to enroll this summer, and he will be a freshman for the Volunteers next season.

        Thompson is currently a senior at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where he was coached by Barry Wortman.

        As a senior this spring, the 6-4, 180-pound Thompson averaged 16.4 points, 6.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while leading Blackman to a 30-1 overall record and a second straight berth in the Tennessee Class AAA state quarterfinals.

        In the win over Ooltewah that gave the Blaze their second straight District 7-AAA sectional title, Thompson – the 2013 District MVP – logged 24 points, 11 assists and five steals. «Read the rest of this article»
