        UT Lady VolsStarkville, MS – The Tennessee Lady Vols scrapped to within three in the third quarter but couldn’t overcome a No. 6 Mississippi State team that shot an impressive 52.2 percent on the day.
         
        Tennessee (15-8, 4-6 SEC) was led by sophomore Rennia Davis, who fired in a season-high 29 points. Freshman Zaay Green also was in double figures with 13.
         
        MSU’s (22-1, 10-0 SEC) high scorer was senior Teaira McCowan, who logged a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Seniors Jordan Danberry and Anriel Howard also had big days for MSU, finishing with 20 and 16 points, respectively. Howard added 11 rebounds to claim a double-double on the afternoon.

        UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Lady Vols (15-7, 4-5 SEC) play its second game in a row on the road, as it travels to Starkville, Mississippi, to take on No. 6/6 Mississippi State (21-1, 9-0 SEC) on Sunday. ESPN will carry the 42nd meeting between the Lady Vols and Bulldogs, as they convene at Humphrey Coliseum for a 1:00pm CT (2:00pm ET) matinee.

        UT makes its way to the Magnolia State with the momentum of a three-game winning streak, forged with victories over LSU, Florida and Vanderbilt. The Lady Vols won their 10th straight in the series vs. the Commodores last Sunday, defeating Stephanie White’s club, 82-65, at Memorial Gymnasium.

        UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 13/13 Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball (12-3, 1-2 SEC) faces back-to-back road games in a five-day span, beginning with a Sunday matinee at Georgia (11-5, 2-1 SEC) on Jan. 13th. Tip-off is slated for 2:02pmCT at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, with the game being carried by ESPN, the Lady Vol Radio Network and SiriusXM.

        This marks the 68th meeting between these programs in a series that ranks behind only UT-Vanderbilt (80 games) for most times played by Big Orange women’s hoops. The Lady Vols will try to respond in positive fashion from back-to-back home losses to Missouri (66-64) and #16/16 Kentucky (73-71).

        APSU BaseballMorehead, KY – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team rallied from a four-run deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning but could not fend off a late Morehead State rally in a 7-6 Ohio Valley Conference loss, Sunday afternoon at Allen Field.

        Austin Peay (23-17, 13-8 OVC) trailed 6-2 entering the seventh inning as Morehead State starter Kyle Cantu entered the frame after tossing five consecutive scoreless innings.

        UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Mercedes Russell recorded 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting, but No. 6/7 Tennessee was unable to overcome a 13-point halftime deficit in a 71-52 loss to No. 3/3 Mississippi State on Sunday at Thompson-Boling Arena.
         
        Jaime Nared added 12 points for the Lady Vols (16-3, 4-2 SEC), who now have dropped three of their last four. Victoria Vivians led the Bulldogs (20-0, 6-0 SEC) with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Teaira McCowan recorded 12 points and 18 boards.
         
        After Anastasia Hayes made it a seven-point game with a free throw early in the fourth quarter, MSU was able to shut down UT offensively, allowing no field goals over the final eight minutes while closing the game on a 14-2 run.

        UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 6/7 Tennessee (16-2, 4-1 SEC) is back at home after a three-game road swing and steps back into conference play with a match-up vs. #3/3 Mississippi State (19-0, 5-0 SEC) on Sunday. Tip-off vs. the defending NCAA runner-up Bulldogs is set for 2:02pm CT at Thompson-Boling Arena.

        Sunday’s tilt is the Lady Vols’ fourth straight game against a ranked foe, the third consecutive vs. a top-10 team and the second in a row over a top-five squad. This marks the second run of four straight ranked opponents during the Holly Warlick era.

        UT beat #22/NR North Carolina and #18/20 Texas, then lost to #3/3 Baylor and #1/1 Stanford in 2012-13 (her first year as head coach).

        UT Lady VolsStarksville, MS – Tennessee earned one of the biggest wins of the Holly Warlick era on Sunday, defeating #3/2 Mississippi State, 82-64, at Humphrey Coliseum.

        Jordan Reynolds also had a productive game, tying her career high in points with 17 to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.

        Victoria Vivians led the Bulldogs (27-3, 13-3 SEC) with 18 points.

        Tennessee’s defense came ready to play out of the gate, holding the Bulldogs to 19 percent shooting and more than a four-minute scoring drought in the first quarter. Nared got off to a quick start on the offensive end of the court, posting nine points to lead UT to an 18-8 advantage at the end of the period.

        Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsStarkville, MS – Poor free-throw shooting and a sluggish second half spelled trouble for Tennessee as Mississippi State snapped the Vols’ four-game winning streak with a 64-59 victory at Humphrey Coliseum.

        Tennessee (13-10, 5-5 SEC) was led by 13 points from freshman Jordan Bone — his first game scoring in double figures since January 14th. Bone also notched a team- and season-high eight rebounds.

        Fellow freshman Grant Williams was the only other Vol in double figures, finishing with 11 points.
