Richmond, KY – Austin Peay State University’s softball team saw its best season in program history come to an end, Friday at Gertrude Hood Field, with a 3-0 loss to Toledo in the regional round of the National Invitational Softball Championship.
The Governors (39-19) and Rockets (35-22) traded scoreless innings through the first four frames, but a leadoff triple to open the fifth inning, followed by a sacrifice fly to center field gave Toledo a 1-0 lead.

Richmond, KY – Austin Peay State University’s softball team had one inning go against them versus Towson, Thursday at Gertrude Hood Field in the opening round of the National Invitational Softball Championship, with the Govs falling to the Tigers, 3-0.
The Govs (39-18) and Tigers matched zeros for the first two innings, including APSU starter Morgan Rackel (22-7) getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the first inning.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team makes a return to the postseason for the first time in 11 years, 12:30pm, Wednesday at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL., when it takes on Tennessee Martin in its opening-round matchup.
The Govs (36-15, 17-4 OVC) enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed, their highest seed in the program’s history, while Tennessee Martin (25-30, 9-11 OVC) enters the tournament as the No. 7 seed.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team won in walk-off fashion twice versus Alabama A&M, Wednesday afternoon at Cheryl Holt Field at Joe and Cathi Maynard Softball Stadium, as the Governors came away with 1-0 and 3-2 victories over the Bulldogs.

Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team continues to add to its record-setting road win total by sweeping Belmont, Saturday at E.S. Rose Park, by finals of 1-0 (in eight innings) and 7-2.
The Govs (27-15, 10-4 OVC) now have 14 true road wins this season, the most by any Ohio Valley Conference school this spring, and four more than in any other season in the program’s history.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team dropped a pair of close Ohio Valley Conference decisions to Jacksonville State, Friday at Cheryl Holt Field at Joe and Cathi Maynard Softball Stadium, falling to the defending conference champions by 2-1 and 5-3 finals.

Chattanooga, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team only scored one run Wednesday versus Tennessee Chattanooga, at Jim Frost Stadium, but their pitching made it hold up, as the Govs defeated the Mocs for the first time in eight all-time meetings, 1-0.
Kelsey Gross and Morgan Rackel combined for the five-high shutout for the Govs (21-10), with Gross (4-3) going the first 4.1 innings versus the Mocs (16-22) – giving up three hits, walking two and striking out one.
Murfreesboro, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team dropped a one-run heartbreaker to Middle Tennessee State University, Monday afternoon at Blue Raiders Softball Field, as the Govs saw MTSU escape with a late-inning 3-2 win.
The Govs (20-10) had broken open a scoreless pitcher’s duel with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, starting with Carly Matson hitting the first pitch of the inning out over the right-center field fence for her fifth home run of the year, to make it 1-0.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team is off to an historic start to its Ohio Valley Conference schedule and with that fuels hopes that its 11-year postseason drought could be coming to an end.
After sweeping OVC rival Tennessee Tech this past Friday at Cheryl Holt Field, the Govs saw their record improved to 20-9 overall this spring, but more importantly 5-1 in OVC play – the program’s best start since the OVC started sponsoring softball as a conference championship sport in 1994 and besting the former starts of 4-2 set by the 1997 and 2007 teams.
