Murray, KY — Austin Peay State University’s softball team had its May 4th Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at Murray State cancelled due to wet field conditions.
The three-game OVC series is now down to a May 5th doubleheader, starting at 11:00am., to wrap up the regular season at Central Park – just off the Murray State campus.Despite the cancelled game May 4th, the Lady Govs are still in the running for a berth into the OVC post-season tournament, with Morehead State losing both of its games to Eastern Kentucky on May 4th by scores of 3-1 and 4-3. «Read the rest of this article»

P.J.Torres hits walk-off home run for Governors win over Morehead 9-8
Clarksville, TN — Austin Peay State University’s baseball team got two home runs from catcher P.J. Torres, May 3rd at Raymond C. Hand Park — including a game-winning walk-off in the bottom of the 10th inning — as the Govs defeated the Morehead State University Eagles in an Ohio Valley Conference contest, 9-8.

Austin Peay State University to face Mississippi State University in NCAA men’s tennis tournament
Clarksville, TN — Austin Peay State University’s men’s tennis team, winners of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, will face Mississippi State in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament.
The Govs (17-3), who won the OVC title for the first time since 1974 will be making its first NCAA Tournament appearance and it will be the first for first-year head coach Ross Brown, who was named to the position last summer.

Austin Peay announces women’s basketball signee

Clarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Carrie Daniels has turned to one of her former stomping grounds for the latest addition to the 2013-14 roster, signing April Rivers of Las Vegas to a letter of intent.
Daniels ties to the Las Vegas area originate from her two-year stint as an assistant at UNLV. Her discovery of Rivers also came with the benefit of rekindling a relationship with Bishop Gorman High School head coach Sheryl Krmpotich, who was an assistant coach at Austin Peay from 1992-96 – the final four years of Daniels’ collegiate career. «Read the rest of this article»
