Freshman’s second-round total sets a Vanderbilt NCAA Championship single-round record and ties for the lowest round for the Commodores in postseason play.
Nashville, TN – Commodore freshman Jenny Hahn continued her stellar play Wednesday at the NCAA Championship in Athens, GA, firing a five-under par, 67, in her second 18 holes around the UGA Golf Course. Hahn’s 67 was a new career best and a new Vanderbilt NCAA Championship single-round record and ties for the lowest round for the Commodores in postseason play, which was set in the 2007 Central Regional by Jacqui Concolino.
Hahn is currently third on the individual leader board for the tournament with a six-under, 137 (71-67). She trails Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow, the individual leader, by two strokes, and second-place Annie Park of Southern Cal by one stroke. «Read the rest of this article»

Freshman Jenny Hahn from Henderson, NV, leads Commodores on Day One with a one-under par, 71.
Nashville, TN – Vanderbilt freshman Jenny Hahn fired a one-under par, 71, in her opening round Tuesday and tied a Commodore program record for the lowest first round at an NCAA Championship to lead the Commodores at the 2013 edition at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, GA. As a team, Vanderbilt has a first-round total of 11-over par, 299, which places them in tie for 15th place after day one.
“It was a great effort, and Jenny looked really good out there today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “She made a birdie coming in to finish her round. Lil’ Reen (Irina Gabasa) was solid all day. This is a tough golf course for her because it’s fairly long and it’s a hilly course. Kendall and Stratty each shot 77, and it wasn’t like they were hitting it everywhere. They had a lot of good looks for birdie and just didn’t make it. Between the two of them, they only made one birdie. Usually, those two girls are making three or four birdies apiece every round.” «Read the rest of this article»

When the news broke that Jonny Venters was having another Tommy John surgery and would be lost for this year and perhaps most of next, it was met on Twitter with… well, basically a shoulder shrug.
That’s not a knock on Venters, an extremely reliable set-up guy who has been a valuable bullpen piece the last two seasons – I wish him the best in his recovery, because he seems to be a good teammate and a good guy, and because I wouldn’t wish multiple Tommy John surgeries on anyone not named Roger Clemens. It’s just been that kind of season so far. Brian McCann missed the first month. Jason Heyward had emergency appendectomy surgery a couple of weeks ago – those two still haven’t been in the lineup together this season, and it’s the middle of May. Brandon Beachy, who’s actually ahead of schedule from his own Tommy John surgery, will be back in June, probably. Freddie Freeman missed a couple of weeks. And on and on. «Read the rest of this article»
