        Derek van der Mewre officially named Austin Peay State University’s 12th athletics director

        Clarksville, TN – In a June 5th press conference in the front lobby of the Dunn Center, the former deputy athletics director and chief operating officer at Central Michigan University Derek van der Mewre was officially named Austin Peay State University’s 12th athletics director.

        Austin Peay State University Pole Vaulter Molly Basch named CoSIDA Academic All-District

        Molly Basch-APSU Track and Field

        Clarksville, TN — Rising senior pole vaulter Molly Basch, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named to the College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III women’s track and field/cross country team for the 2012-13 academic year.

        Basch carries a 4.0 grade-point average into her senior year at Austin Peay. A psychology major, Basch was the winner of the Govs Club Academic Achievement Award at the spring awards banquet, which is awarded to the rising senior female student-athlete with the highest GPA, department-wide.

        During the season, Basch placed eighth at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships with a 3.10m pole vault mark. «Read the rest of this article»

        APSU Lady Govs awarded OVC Outdoor Track and Field Sportsmanship Award

        Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – For the second time in the last three years, Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team has earned the Ohio Valley Conference Sportsmanship Award for the outdoor track and field season.

        Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA.
