        Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN –  The Austin Peay State University (APSU)s athletics department posted its best-ever finish in the 2018-19 OVC Commissioner’s Cup behind two regular-season championships and another pair of Top 3 finishes in Ohio Valley Conference play

        APSU delivered its second-straight 100-point tally in the OVC Commissioner’s Cup, with its 109 points this season an improvement over last season’s 101.5 points. That total pushed the Governors to fourth among the league’s 12 members. Murray State won the 2019 competition with 128 points, its first victory since the inaugural commissioner’s cup was awarded in 2008-09. Jacksonville State finished second (115) followed by Belmont (114) and Austin Peay.

        APSU student-athletes post department-wide 3.0 GPA for a record fourth straight semester

        Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes posted a departmental grade-point average of 3.0 or better for a program-record fourth consecutive semester finishing the Spring 2019 semester with a 3.096 mark.

        A department-record 70 percent of Austin Peay’s 289 varsity student-athletes earned academic honors for the spring semester. The last eight semesters dating back to Fall 2015 have yielded eight of the top-10 semester GPA’s since tracking data began in 1993. For just the fourth time, more than 100 Govs earned a spot on the Dean’s List, with 48 posting perfect 4.0 GPA’s for the semester.

        Alex Woodard set to join APSU Basketball in 2019-20

        APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Alec Woodard from Georgia will be joining the Governors next fall adding another talented player to the Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team backcourt.

        The last time Woodard walked off the court, it was a Class AAA state champion for Morgan County (Georgia) High School, his second as a prep and fourth straight appearance in the state championship game.

        Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLouisville, KY – The Tennessee Vols impressive season came to an end Thursday night, falling in the Sweet Sixteen to Purdue in overtime, 99-94, at the KFC Yum! Center.
         
        After facing an 18-point deficit at the 16:19 mark and with all the momentum in Purdue’s favor, the Vols stormed back with a 19-2 run to take their first lead since opening minutes of the game. A deep 3-pointer from Schofield to make it a 70-67 game capped the run.
         
        With five minutes left in regulation, both teams were knotted at 70-70.

        Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLouisville, KY – With a bid for the Elite Eight at stake, the No. 2-seeded Tennessee Vols are prepared to face No. 3 seed Purdue in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament at KFC Yum! Center in the South Region on Thursday. The game tips at 6:29pm CT and will be televised live on TBS.

        Tennessee is competing in its eighth Sweet Sixteen all time and sixth since 2000. The Vols are 31-5 this season. That impressive record also includes a school-record 19-game winning streak, a program-record-tying three victories over top-five opponents and ties the most victories in a single season in program history.

        Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsColumbus, OH – For eighth time in program history, the Tennessee Vols are heading to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament, following an 83-77 victory in overtime against Iowa at Nationwide Arena on Sunday.
         
        It’s the first time since 2014 that Tennessee has reached the Sweet Sixteen, and head coach Rick Barnes is just the 12th head coach to lead a third Division I program to the Sweet Sixteen. The Vols (31-5) will take on No. 3 seed Purdue in Louisville, KY, on Thursday.

        Tennessee is 30-5 on the season. That impressive record includes a school-record 19-game winning streak, a program-record-tying three victories over top-five opponents and the second most victories in a single season in program history. The Tennessee Vols spent four weeks atop the Associated Press Top 25 rankings, and for the first time in program history, UT spent the entire season ranked among the top 10.
