Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Carrie Daniels has announced the addition of Dean Walsh to her coaching staff for the 2013-14 season, effective Monday.
Walsh, who was an associate head coach at Gardner-Webb last season, fills the position left vacant by the departure of Jessica Grayson last fall and joins assistant coaches Brooke Armistead and Jerome Jackson on Daniels’ staff.

Lexington, KY – Former UK men’s basketball All-Americans DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis and John Wall are among 27 players – including Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley — who have accepted invitations to attend the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s National Team mini-camp that will be held July 22nd through July 25th in Las Vegas, NV., USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo announced June 12th.

Clarksville, TN - Eight Austin Peay State University athletics teams increased or maintained their academic success, according to the latest NCAA Academic Progress Rates (APR) released Tuesday.
Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year, based on the eligibility, graduation and retention of each scholarship student-athlete. Teams scoring below certain thresholds can face consequences, such as practice restrictions and restrictions on postseason competition. Rates are based on the past four years’ performance. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on the scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Governors Club is sponsoring the Basketball Bash, beginning 6:00p.m., on June 15th at the Bud Barn on the Charles Hand Farm.
Tickets for the annual Austin Peay basketball fundraiser are $40 each and must be purchased in advance. All proceeds for the event benefit both the Governors and Lady Govs basketball programs. Tickets can be bought from Governors Club board members as well as from both basketball staffs.

Brentwood, TN – The Ohio Valley Conference, in a June 11th announcement, released that Belmont University is the recipient of the 2012-13 Team Sportsmanship Award for baseball.
Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA.

Clarksville, TN – Four Austin Peay State University baseball student-athletes were selected, Saturday, on the third day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Draft. Along with senior closer Tyler Rogers, who was picked in Friday’s action, the five APSU players drafted this season is a program record.

Seacaucus, NJ – Senior closer Tyler Rogers became the first Austin Peay State University baseball player selected in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player draft when he was selected in Friday’s 10th round (312th overall pick) by the San Francisco Giants.

Clarksville, TN - The honors continue to roll in for Sean Bailey. One week after winning the Ohio Valley Conference’s Steve Hamilton Sportsmanship Award, Bailey was named to the Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Men’s At-Large Academic All-American second-team, Thursday.
