        Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed 2012 third-round draft pick Brendan Leipsic (BREHN-duhn LIGHP-sihk) to a three-year entry-level contract.

        Leipsic, 19 (5/19/94), was co-recipient of the 2013 Bob Clarke Trophy as Western Hockey League scoring champion after posting 120 points (49g-71a) in 68 games as Portland won the Scotty Munro Trophy as regular-season champions. «Read the rest of this article»

        Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that Phil Housley has been named assistant coach of the team.

        Housley coached the United States to a gold medal at the 2013 World Junior Championships and ranks fourth all-time among NHL defensemen in points (338g-894a-1,232pts).

        Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed forward Mark Van Guilder to a two-year, two-way contract worth $550,000 at the NHL level and $80,000 at the AHL level in 2013-14, and $550,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level in 2014-15.

        Nashville Predators sign 2012 Draft Pick

        Nashville, TN -  Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed 2012 sixth-round draft pick Marek Mazanec (MAIR-ehk muh-ZAN-ehk) to a two-year entry-level contract. Mazanec is expected to spend his first season in North American in 2013-14.

        Mazanec, 21 (7/18/91), recently led Plzen to its first Czech League title by stopping 48-of-51 shots in a Game Seven double-OT victory. He ranked fourth in 2013 playoff goals-against average (2.13) and sixth in save percentage (.932), in addition to tying for second in shutouts (2). During the 2012-13 regular season, the 6-4, 189-pound native of Pisek, Czech Republic ranked sixth in the Czech Extraliga in goals-against average (2.49). «Read the rest of this article»

        Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators, represented by President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile, took part in the 2013 Scotiabank NHL Draft Lottery on Monday night, retaining the fourth overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.

        Predators coach Barry Trotz joins Team Canada for 2013 IIHF Hockey World Championship

        Calgary, Alta.  – Hockey Canada, along with executive director Steve Yzerman and the National Men’s Team management group, announced Saturday that Dave Tippett (Moosomin, Sask./ Phoenix Coyotes, NHL) and Barry Trotz (Dauphin, Man./Nashville, NHL) will join the coaching staff for the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.  Earlier this month, Hockey Canada announced head coach Lindy Ruff (Warburg, Alta.) and assistant coach Doug Shedden (Wallaceburg, Ont./EV Zug, SUI) as members of the staff.

        Dave Tippett, 51, has just completed his fourth season as head coach of the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes, and ninth year as a head coach in the NHL. The native of Moosomin, Sask., coached the Dallas Stars from 2002-09, winning the Jack Adams Trophy as the NHL’s coach of the year in 2010 after leading the team to 50 wins. Tippett won a silver medal at the 2009 IIHF World Championship, as a member of the coaching staff that also included head coach Ruff and Trotz. As a player, Tippett represented Canada at two Olympic Winter Games (1984, 1992), winning a silver medal in 1992, and serving as team captain in 1984. «Read the rest of this article»

        Columbus, Ohio - An injury plagued, strike shortened season has come to an end for the Nashville Predators with a 3-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.  The Predators were first to score on a Shea Weber slap shot at 8:29 of the second period, but the third period belonged to Columbus, as they reeled off three goals, including an empty netter, to seal the deal.
