Freshman Jenny Hahn lands a top 20 finish (T-17) and leads all Commodore players with a final score of 293 (71-67-79-76).
Nashville, TN – The Vanderbilt women’s golf team ended the 2013 NCAA Championship at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, GA, with a final score of 1206 (299-289-307-311), which was good for a 18th-place finish at the four-day tournament. Freshman Jenny Hahn led all Commodore players, carding a top 20 finish and finishing in a tie for 17th with a final score of 293 (71-67-79-76).
Vanderbilt fired a final-round total of 23 over-par, 311, after teeing off in the first group of the morning wave off of the number one tee. «Read the rest of this article»
Greensboro, NC – An excellent freshman season drew to a close for Austin Peay State University sprinter Breigh Jones, Friday, in the quarterfinals at the NCAA East Preliminaries, hosted by North Carolina A&T.

Jackson, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team earned a spot in its third straight Ohio Valley Conference championship game, May 24th at General’s Stadium, as the second-seeded Govs defeated top-seeded Tennessee Tech, 6-2.
The Govs (44-13) will face the winner of the May 25th, noon, losers’ bracket final between Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech, at 3:30pm.

Brentwood, TN – For the second time in the last three years, Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team has earned the Ohio Valley Conference Sportsmanship Award for the outdoor track and field season.
Voted on by the student-athletes and coaches of the respective sports, the team awards are bestowed upon the Conference squads deemed to have best exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior as outlined by the OVC and NCAA.

Freshman’s second-round total sets a Vanderbilt NCAA Championship single-round record and ties for the lowest round for the Commodores in postseason play.
Nashville, TN – Commodore freshman Jenny Hahn continued her stellar play Wednesday at the NCAA Championship in Athens, GA, firing a five-under par, 67, in her second 18 holes around the UGA Golf Course. Hahn’s 67 was a new career best and a new Vanderbilt NCAA Championship single-round record and ties for the lowest round for the Commodores in postseason play, which was set in the 2007 Central Regional by Jacqui Concolino.
Hahn is currently third on the individual leader board for the tournament with a six-under, 137 (71-67). She trails Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow, the individual leader, by two strokes, and second-place Annie Park of Southern Cal by one stroke. «Read the rest of this article»

Jackson, TN – For the third time in program history Austin Peay State University’s baseball team can celebrate a sweep of the Ohio Valley Conference’s top awards. Junior first baseman Craig Massoni was named the league’s Player of the Year and senior closer Tyler Rogers was named its Pitcher of the Year at the annual OVC Baseball Awards Banquet held Tuesday night.
“I’m not sure I have a word that is good enough to describe what these two men meant to our team,” said Austin Peay head coach Gary McClure. “Having Tyler involved in 27 decisions over 42 wins is incredible. And on the other hand, Craig was a guy who hit almost .500 in league play and didn’t do it with singles – he did it with doubles and home runs.
