Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced Tuesday, May 14th, that APSU Women’s golf head coach Amy McCollum has resigned. McCollum was the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference co-Coach of the Year.

Former head coach Sara Robson, who now serves as Assistant Athletics Director for Operations, will take over the program on an interim basis. A national search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.
McCollum took over the program in December 2018 on an interim basis after Robson moved into administration. In her first spring at the helm, she led the Govs to four top-five finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the 2018 OVC Women’s Golf Championships that saw the Govs end the season with a final-round 301—the best single-round score Austin Peay has posted in championship play.
The fifth head coach in Austin Peay women’s golf history and the second since the program went to a separate coaching staff in 2004-05, McCollum’s first full season featured seven top-five finishes, including another top-five showing in OVC Championship play.
Under McCollum, first-year Governor Taylor Dedmen earned All-OVC and All-Newcomer honors, and the Govs defended their team title at the Town & Country Invitational. The Govs were on fire for much of McCollum’s first fall as head coach, earning three-straight top-three finishes at the Greenbrier Invitational, the Chris Banister Classic and the F&M Bank APSU Invitational before closing the fall with the victory in Nashville Tennessee.
“I’d like to thank Amy for her efforts and contributions during her time with our women’s golf program,” Harrison said. “Looking ahead, this is a program on the rise with a bright future and we must now turn our focus to bringing the best possible coach in for our student-athletes. As with all our head coaching searches, we will move swiftly to identify a coach committed to the “Total Gov Concept” and who will understand the importance of winning with class.”
