Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team continued its march toward perfection by obliterating Dayton, 7-0, Wednesday, at the Governors Tennis Courts.
The Governors (11-0) did not drop a set throughout the entirety of the match as they rolled to another shutout victory.

Govs head coach Ross Brown played around with the doubles lineups, with the impressive newcomer duo of transfer Tatiana Lopez and freshman Honoka Nakanishi moving to No. 1 doubles, while the Yanes Garcia twins of Lidia and Claudia played at No. 2.
Rounding out the lineup was the efficient German connection of Fabienne Schmidt and Helena Kuppig.
The changes proved to be fruitful, as Lopez and Nakanishi blanked their opponents, 6-0, to win the opening match of the day. Claudia Yanes Garcia and Lidia Yanes Garcia followed up with a 6-2 victory of their own, as the Govs led 1-0.
Unfortunately for the Flyers (4-10), they were missing some players, but it is hard to imagine it would have been a difference with the dominance the Govs exuberated in singles. Danielle Morris was the first Gov to win her match, only dropping one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Claudia made it 2-0 to APSU with an as dominant 6-1, 6-1 win, and shortly after Helena Kuppig clinched the match with another straight-set win at No. 5 singles.
The Govs were not done there, however. Lidia Yanes Garcia (No. 1 singles), Lopez (No. 3), and Schmidt (No. 4) all won in straight sets as the Govs were not really tested in singles play.
The Govs go back on the road to face North Alabama next Wednesday in a makeup match.
