Birmingham, AL – Austin Peay State University’s softball team split a pair of games, on Day 2 of the UAB Tournament Saturday at Mary Bowers Field, dropping the opener to Louisiana Monroe 5-3 before exploding for a 18-4 victory versus UAB in the nightcap.
The victory moves the Govs to 3-1 on the season and guarantees Austin Peay a winning opening weekend to their 2019 season, with the tournament concluding Sunday with a, 2:00pm, rematch versus UAB.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team suffered from a poor first-half shooting performance to fall to Eastern Illinois, 67-57, Saturday, at the Winfield Dunn Center.
The Governors (11-12, 6-6 OVC) put together a late rally, cutting a 17-point deficit to just five, but came up short in the end.

Knoxville, TN – In front of a season-high crowd of 22,261, No. 1 Tennessee Vols basketball’s high-flying second half helped the Vols top the Florida Gators, 73-61 on Saturday.
UT (22-1, 10-0 Southeastern Conference) pushes its win streak to 18 games, the longest streak for any Rick Barnes coached team in his 32 seasons as a head coach.
Tennessee had four players finish in double figures with Grant Williams team-high 16 points leading the way to go along with a team-high six rebounds. Admiral Schofield, who also grabbed six boards, finished with 14 points.

St. Louis, Mo– The Nashville Predators fell to the St. Louis Blues this afternoon in game one of a back-to-back series with the Blues, 3-2.
St. Louis used a constant offensive attack all afternoon to keep Nashville at bay.
Vince Dunn got the scoring started for St. Louis at 4:37 of the opening frame by taking his own rebound off his initial shot and tucking it into the net past Pekka Rinne, who despite the loss, had a phenomenal game.
St. Louis took the early 1-0 lead.

Knoxville, TN – Tennessee Lady Vols (15-7, 4-5 SEC) play its second game in a row on the road, as it travels to Starkville, Mississippi, to take on No. 6/6 Mississippi State (21-1, 9-0 SEC) on Sunday. ESPN will carry the 42nd meeting between the Lady Vols and Bulldogs, as they convene at Humphrey Coliseum for a 1:00pm CT (2:00pm ET) matinee.
UT makes its way to the Magnolia State with the momentum of a three-game winning streak, forged with victories over LSU, Florida and Vanderbilt. The Lady Vols won their 10th straight in the series vs. the Commodores last Sunday, defeating Stephanie White’s club, 82-65, at Memorial Gymnasium.
Knoxville, TN – No. 1 Tennessee Vols host the Florida Gators on Saturday for a matchup in front of a sold-out Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Vols (21-1, 9-0 SEC) defeated the Gators last month in Gainesville, 78-67. It was a hard-fought matchup in a tough road environment.
