Nashville, TN – In their return to Nissan Stadium after two weeks on the road, the Tennessee Titans dropped to a 2-11 record with a loss to the New York Giants.
QB Zach Mettenberger became the third quarterback in franchise history to start at least six games as a rookie. He was 14-of-24 passing for 125 yards with an interception, but in the fourth quarter his day came to a premature end for the second consecutive week when he aggravated a right shoulder injury.
The Giants took off early in the game, scoring 17 points in the first quarter and six more before the end of the first half. Giants QB Eli Manning threw for 260 yards and a touchdown, helping the Giants snap a seven-game skid.
Rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. led the Giants with 130 yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions, while rookie running back Andre Williams recorded a gamehigh 131 rushing yards with one score.
In the third quarter, rookie DB Marqueston Huff recorded his first career interception.
He picked off a Manning pass that was intended for Giants TE Larry Donnell and returned the ball 23 yards for a touchdown. QB Jake Locker entered the game in the fourth quarter after Mettenberger’s injury, completing 9-of-11 passing for 81 yards and one interception.
Locker led the team in rushing yards, running twice for 28 yards. Following the Titans’ lone touchdown, the Giants finished the game by scoring an additional six points, two field goals of 52 yards and 42 yards.
