Austin, TX – Austin Peay State University (APSU) senior setter Kristen Stucker has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Women’s Volleyball First Team, Monday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Stucker, of Johnston, Iowa, is one of 22 student-athletes selected to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I teams and one of 14 to have a 4.00 grade-point average or better.
Also, she is one of only five honorees to return after being selected to the 2017 Academic All-America teams.
Last season, Stucker was named to the Second Team Academic All-America® and became the first Governors volleyball student-athlete to receive Academic All-America recognition since Isabel Candeo (1992). With her First Team Google Cloud Academic All-America selection this season, she becomes the sixth Austin Peay student-athlete to earn first-team recognition.
Carrying a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, Stucker is a double-major in biology and agriculture and a double-minor in chemistry and Pre-Professional Health as part of Austin Peay’s Pre-Veterinary program.
On the court, Stucker completed her collegiate career by earning her third straight Ohio Valley Conference Setter of the Year honor – in just the fourth year it has been awarded. She also became the second Austin Peay volleyball player to earn First Team All-OVC recognition three times during their career, joining Nikki Doyle.
Stucker again was the league’s best setter – both overall (11.05 assists per set) and in OVC play (11.17 assists per set). A true all-around player, she also was fourth among Governors players in digs (2.66 per set), third in blocks (0.47 per set) and second in service aces (0.26 per set). All while leading the Governors to a .236 team attack percentage that ranked second-best in program history.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
