Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball head coach David Midlick  has announced the signing of four players for the 2019-2020 school year.
Midlick’s first signing is junior transfer Alayjah Sherer.
Sherer spent her freshman season at East Tennessee State before moving to Northwest Florida State College last season. Sherer, who hails from Tupelo, Mississippi, was a McDonalds All-American Nominee in 2017. Sherer was a first-team All-State performer in high school and was named to the Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen list, which highlighted the top twelve high school players in Mississippi.
Shay-Lee Kirby, a freshman guard out of Parkersburg, West Virginia, is Midlick’s next addition. The versatile product excelled in both basketball and volleyball in her prep career. Kirby was named to the West Virginia Class AAA State team in basketball and also received the same honor in volleyball.
Midlick goes international with his next addition, as Ella Sawyer will join the Govs as the first foreign-born player since Nicole Jamen since the 2008-09 season. Sawyer, from Adelaide, Australia, has received numerous accolades in her native country. Sawyer won eight straight South Austrailian state titles and has represented her state from the U16-U20 level. Sawyer’s team also won the U18 Australian Junior Classics and was named the Most Valuable Player of the final.
Midlick’s last signee is in-state product Larriana Bullard. Bullard, who is from Knoxville, has starred for Austin East High School. Bullard has excelled for her high school under coach Quentin Young and was also a standout player on the AAU circuit while with the Tennessee Pyro.
“These four young ladies are talented and know how to compete,” said Midlick. “I’m excited to welcome them and their families to our program.”
