Clarksville, TN – Four members of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s and women’s cross country team are headed to Tallahassee, Florida to compete in the NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships, Friday, November 9th, 2018.
Senior Wesley Gray and Thomas Porter will participate in the men’s 10k race, which begins 9:30am (CT) at Apalachee Regional Park. Senior Caroline Kiplagat and junior Maisie Lay will be the runners for the Govs women’s team as the 6k race, scheduled for 8:30am.

Gray led the way for the Governors two weeks ago in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship, placing 40th in the individuals with a time of 26:09.9, while Porter crossed the finish line a minute later at 27:04.4 (63rd).
Both runners competed in last year’s South Regionals and intend on cutting their times.
On the women’s side, Kiplagat posted her season best 33rd in the 5k race at the OVC Championship. Lay was not far behind Kiplagat as she finished 56th with the time of 19:31.4. Kipligat raced in last year’s South Regional, but this will be Lay’s first time running in the Regionals so look for her to make a statement on Friday.
As Friday quickly approaches, head coach Doug Molnar wants his four runners to put everything on the line in the final meet of the season.
“I want these guys to really go after it with no fear,” Molnar said. “Just go out with nothing to lose. This will be an opportunity to run with some of the best in the country. Now it’s about taking advantage of that opportunity.”
