Six Govs scored in double figures, paced by the Ferby twins, Brianah and Brandi.
The Govs also utilized two freshmen in the starting lineup, with Kasey Kidwell being one of those six Govs in double figures. Kidwell ran the point most of the night when she was in the game, normally subbing in and out for one of the Ferby sisters.
Maggie Knowles also earned the start and poured in an impressive 13 points, showing she’s able to hit from range as well as be able to drive to the hoop to get points.
Coach David Midlick also introduced a high press numerous times throughout the game, getting his players fitness when running the press more often in games as well as turning over Georgetown 21 times and gaining 30 points off those turnovers.
About the Cincinnati Bearcats
The Bearcats are certainly promising to be tough opposition for the Govs. Cincy is coming off a year where they went 10-6 in the American Athletic Conference and earned a berth into the women’s National Invitational Tournament. The Bearcats also return their leading scorer from last season in Nikira Goings, who averaged just over 11 points per game. This season, like the Govs, the Bearcats have only played a single exhibition game, winning that one with ease.
The game will be broadcast on the Bearcats TV Network. Live stats will also be provided by Cincinnati. Make sure to follow @AustinPeayWBB to stay up-to-date with the game and also receive important updates about APSU basketball.
