APSU Men's GolfClarksville, TN – For the third consecutive season, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s golf will make the trek to the Sapphire Valley, North Carolina for the Hummingbird Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.

A huge field is set to compete on the par-71, 6,767-yard course nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

In addition to the Govs and host Catamounts, four Ohio Valley Conference schools—Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Tennessee Tech—will be in attendance, as will student-athletes from Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Clemson, Elon, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Stetson and Wofford.

The two-day, 54-hole event begins with an 8:00am (CT), Monday, shotgun start, followed by 36 holes. The final day features 18 holes and a 7:30am (CT) tee time. This marks the 13th version of the event, and third that it has been a 54-hole affair.

Austin Peay will be led by sophomore Chase Korte, who was the Govs top finisher at this event a year ago. Slotted in at No. 2 is senior Sean Butscher, whose final-round 68 moved him to 16th at the Memphis Intercollegiate—he led the Govs in birdies with 12, including three straight to close out the final round.

Juniors Michael Busse and Alex Vegh and sophomore Garrett Whitfield round out this week’s lineup for the Govs. Vegh sank 14 birdies over the course of last season’s tournament, while Whitfield shot 71 in his final round in Sapphire Valley as a freshman.

Live scoring will be available courtesy of GolfStat.com. A complete recap and a full component of stats will be available at the end of each day at LetsGoPeay.com.
