Nashville, TN – Almantas Ozelis, of Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team, was named First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference, as announced Thursday by the league office.
The selection marks Ozelis’s second straight year being named to an All-OVC team, as he was named to the Second Team last year.
Ozelis is the only men’s player to have been named All-OVC the past two seasons, being a mainstay at the top of the lineup.
Ozelis has played every singles match this spring at the No. 1 position, compiling a team-best 3-3 OVC record. Ozelis has especially excelled in doubles this spring, teaming with longtime partner Aleh Drobysh at No. 1 doubles. The duo is 9-6 overall, with a 7-5 spring record, including a perfect 4-0 OVC record in doubles in completed matches. Ozelis has not lost a completed doubles match since March 8 against Detroit.
Ozelis and the Govs will open their OVC Tournament journey with a 12:00pm, Friday match against Eastern Kentucky at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.
