The two-day, 54-hole event features some fine talent from around the area, including OVC foes Belmont, Tennessee Tech and the Colonels, as well as student-athletes from Akron, Ball State, Dayton, ULM, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio, Toledo, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
Arlington plays at par-72 and 5,815 yards, with a slightly longer back nine despite both halves of the course playing to par at 36 strokes. The Govs will be paired with Dayton and a group of individuals to open play Friday, scheduled to begin at 10:30am.
The Govs will trot out the same five competitors as they did earlier this week at Southern Illinois, with junior Ashton Goodley slotting into the No. 1 spot after a top-10 in Carbondale. Behind her will play junior Reagan Greene, sophomore Meghann Stamps, senior AnnaMichelle Moore and junior Taylor Goodley.
“There’s always a great field at this event, so we are excited to compete in Richmond this weekend,” said interim head coach Amy McCollum. “Everyone on this team has had a ton of positives in their games despite our battles through some mentally tough conditions the last couple weeks. We’re looking forward to continue building on that and becoming even more confident out on the course.”
Last season, the Govs placed fifth in Richmond, with both Goodley sisters placing in the top-20; Ashton was 11th (76-77-78—231), while Taylor tied for 20th (78-78-78—234). Moore also was in the lineup, while Stamps played as an individual.
