Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball senior forward Averyl Ugba has been named the Chick-Fil-A Austin Peay Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
The Silver Spring, Maryland native put up a trio of double-doubles in January, winning adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week three times and his second Player of the Week honor, January 15th. For the month, he averaged 15.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 1.5 bpg in eight games in January, hitting 53.6 percent from the floor (45-of-84) to lead the Govs to a 5-3 mark for the month.

He opened the month with a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double against UT Martin in a win before a national CBS Sports Network audience.
Hit 5-of-6 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds to go with 13 points to help the Govs beat Southeast Missouri.
Exploded for 35 points—most by a Gov this season—and 11 rebounds as the Govs thumped Jacksonville State to pick up their season’s first road victory. Ugba’s 17 made field goals in this contest are tied for most in the NCAA this season.
13 points, nine boards and a career-high four blocks against Eastern Kentucky; the four swats are most by a Gov in 2017-18.
Put up 18 points and became the first Gov since Chris Horton (March 2nd, 2016) with 15 rebounds to close out the month against Morehead State.
