Murray, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will seek improvement when it travels into Kentucky to play in the MSU Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, at the Miller Memorial Golf Course.
The 36-hole event will see 18 holes played 11:00am, Monday, and the final 18, 10:00am Tuesday on the par-72, 6,017-yard layout.
The Lady Govs are coming off a 14th-place finish at the GolfWeek Program Challenge last week.

“We are looking to improve on our scores from last week,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “This team is capable of having four or five scores under 80 each round, and that is what we will be working towards.
“If we will stay relaxed, focus on hitting fairways and greens, and be patient we will have a successful week.”
The Lady Govs certainly get an idea how they stack up against the OVC. The 14-team field includes six league programs. In addition to APSU and host Murray State, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, SIUE, Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State will be competing. The rest of the field is Southern Illinois, Cumberlands, Indiana State, IPFW, Marshall and Lipscomb.
The Lady Govs will feature a couple of lineup changes. But not changing will be freshman Taylor Goodley and Jessica Cathey, the Lady Govs’ top two finishers at Pawleys Island. Goodley, in her first tournament, shot three sub-80 rounds and finished with a 228, one shot ahead of senior Jessica Cathey, the two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference choice who shot a 3-over 74 on the tourney’s final day.
In addition, junior Morgan Kauffman, who was APSU third-best finisher (237) last week, looks to gain greater consistency. The final two spots will be held by junior Amber Bosworth, who missed last spring with a right-leg stress fracture, and Ashton Goodley, Taylor’s twin sister.
In addition, Morgan Gardner, who played last weekend in South Carolina, and fellow junior Kelsey Schutt, who competed in last spring’s OVC tourney, will play as individuals over the two days.
“Taylor and Jessica had a great week for us last week and we are looking for them to lead the way again, Robson said. “Morgan Kauffman has the distance to play this course well, we just need her to stay focused and minimize the big numbers.
“Ashton will be making her first college tournament appearance and Amber will be coming back from an injury that sidelined her all last spring. They both are excited to make an impact.”
