Jones was 30th overall at 5.63m, 5.79m and 5.74m in her allotted attempts. Along the way, Pitts improved her regional ranking by a dozen spots.
The duo both finished ahead of a conference foe in Murray State’s Ashley Conway (31st, 5.79m) and in-state foe India Hammond of Middle Tennessee (32nd, 5.79m).
While the season comes to a close for Jones – after she broke the Ohio Valley Conference Championship record and earned Outdoor gold with a 6.29m leap – the sun has not yet set on Pitts in Florida.
She is slated to compete in Saturday’s triple jump event, slated for a 3:00pm (CT) start.
