Austin Peay Govs remain undefeated in OVC play

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team remain undefeated in Ohio Valley Conference play as the Govs defeated Eastern Kentucky, 5-2, Saturday, at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center.
With the win, Austin Peay improves to 10-4 overall, with a 5-0 mark in the OVC and is the only team with a perfect record in OVC play. EKU falls to 12-5 overall, with a 5-1 OVC record.

In doubles action, Austin Peay was led by the duo of senior Aleksas Tverijonas and sophomore Aaron Jumonville who earned an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 slot. The Govs were able to clinch the doubles point when the pairing of seniors Dimitar Ristovski and Iago Seffrin claimed a thrilling 8-7 (3) win at No. 1.
In singles play, the Govs were led by Tverijonas and sophomore Manuel Montenegro. Tverijonas cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Ramon van Flymen at the No. 2 position while Montenegro picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Diogo Soares at No. 5.
In other singles matches, the Govs were able to clinch the match when Ristovski picked up a hard-fought 7-6 (8), 6-4 triumph at the No. 1 slot while Jumonville picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win against Sebastian Mueller at No. 3.
The Govs return to the court and continue OVC play with a 2:00pm, Thursday, home contest against Belmont at the Governors Tennis Courts.
