Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team finally will open the Ohio Valley Conference part of its 2015 schedule this Wednesday and Thursday by hosting Eastern Illinois, at Cheryl Holt Field in a three-game series.
Originally scheduled for last Saturday and Sunday, rain and wet field conditions precipitated the games being pushed back to a rare mid-week series matchup.
The two teams will now kick things off with a 3:00pm, Wednesday doubleheader, while wrapping up play with a noon, Thursday, single game.
This series will be the first home games for Austin Peay (1-12, 0-0 OVC) since a February 13th doubleheader versus Miami (Ohio) while also ending an 11-day layoff since its last action, March 7th, and the Kennesaw State Owl Invitational.
Offensively, Austin Peay has three batters hitting .300 or better after the season’s first 15 games, led by Laurel Burroughs ‘ .353 average, which includes two doubles and four home runs.
