Kennesaw, GA – Despite weather forcing a change in the host site, Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play in its final in-season 2015 tournament, Friday and Saturday, when it travels to Kennesaw State to play in the Owl Invitational.
Austin Peay (1-8) was originally scheduled to play in Bloomington, IN, in the Indiana University Tournament, but with a recurring bout of midwest winter weather the tournament has been shifted to Kennesaw State.

The Lady Govs will still be joined in the tournament by the Hoosiers along with Saint Louis, Eastern Illinois and now-host Kennesaw State.
Austin Peay will open tournament play versus Saint Louis (7-6), noon, Friday, followed by a 2:30pm matchup against Kennesaw State.
The Lady Govs already faced Saint Louis in the season’s opening week at the Mississippi State Bulldog Kickoff Classic, losing 13-5, while the meeting with the Owls (10-5) will be the first between the two programs since March 6th, 2011.
Austin Peay will conclude play Sunday with a first-time meeting with Indiana (3-16), starting at noon, followed by a 2:30pm rematch with Kennesaw State.
The Lady Govs are led offensively by Christiana Gable, who enters the weekend batting an even .400, after the season’s first nine games, with two doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs. Niya Sparks (.389) and Laurel Burroughs (.360) also are hitting better than .300 for the season.
In the circle, Natalie Ayala (1-4, 7.69 ERA) has the lone win for Austin Peay this season.
