The Governors, meanwhile, ended the season at 8-22, 3-13 in the OVC. The Redhawks, who didn’t look like a No. 8 seed, Saturday, head into this week’s tournament at 13-16 overall, including 7-9 in league play.

Despite the two teams battling even through the half’s first 10 minutes, the Redhawks were able to gain control by turning eight Governors turnovers into 13 points while transforming 10 offensive rebouinds into 13 points as well. SEMO, which trailed the rebound numbers 5-2 early, finished the half with a 24-14 margin and 46-30 for the game.

APSU's Chris Horton [2]In the second half, the Redhawks knocked down 8-of-14 (57 percent) three pointers, including three apiece by Jarekious Bradley and Isiah Jones and pulled away. Bradley scored 19 second-half points to finish with 28 points, including his 1,000th career point.

“In the first half they just dominated the boards on us,” APSU coach Dave Loos [3] said. “We gave up way too many second-chance points.

“In the second half, they really hurt us with the three ball. You have to give their shooters a lot of credit but we also didn’t do a good job all on getting out on them.”

Bradley led four Redhawks in double figures with Jones connecting for 16 points. SEMO had 20 assists on its 31 field goals. SEMO forced also 14 turnovers, 11 coming on steals.

APSU's Chris Freeman [4]Chris Horton [5], bounced back from some recent subpar scoring performances, to finish with a team-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting while Chris Freeman [6] backed up his 24-point Thursday performance with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in his Govs’ career final.

APSU actually outshot SEMO, 45.3 percent (24 of 53) to 43.7 percent (31 of 71). It was the first time in the 2015 portion of schedule the Govs actually won the field-goal shooting battle. APSU previously outshot North Florida, December 31st of last year.

“We have a lot of work to do,” said Loos, will return for his 26th season in 2015-16. “We have a lot of work to do on the recruiting trail, in the classroom and on court.”
