Austin Peay rolled to runner-up honors in the 28-team event with 77 team points, behind only host Ohio State with 173.5 points.

The Lady Govs swept the podium in the long jump, with sophomore Chancis Jones [2] earning the win thanks to a season-best 5.69m mark; close behind her were classmates Kaylnn Pitts [3] (second, 5.60m) and sophomore Amia Butler [4] (third, 5.58m).

Also in the field, freshman Keyondria Ross [5] placed fourth in the high jump with a 1.53m mark.

Ross was one of three point-earners in the triple jump; in addition to her seventh-place, 11.33m mark, Pitts earned runner-up honors at 12.32m and Jones was fourth with a season-best 11.98m leap.

“I thought we did an excellent job in the long jump and the triple jump,” said head coach Doug Molnar [6]. “Those guys are peaking at the right time.”

Two upperclassmen led the way for Austin Peay in the 60m dash. Senior Erika Adams [7] placed third with a 7.70 mark, and junior Lamontra Robinson was close behind with a fifth-place, personal-best 7.84 run.

A pair of Lady Govs also earned points in the 60m hurdles. Sophomore Myiah Johnson [8] finished sixth thanks to a personal-best 8.67 run that would tie her for fourth in the OVC based on marks entering the weekend. Sophomore Amia Butler [4] placed eighth with a 9.13 mark.

A large share of Austin Peay’s point total came in the non-NCAA sanctioned 600m run. Senior Jessica Gray [9] was runner-up with a 1:34.55 mark, while sophomore Molly Jordan [10] was third at 1:39.55.

In the 200m dash, sophomores Terri Morris [11] (fifth, season-best 25.84) and Tamira Wilson [12] (eighth, 26.24) put points on the ledger for Austin Peay.

“Ohio State is a very sprint-oriented squad, so it was strength against strength,” Molnar said. “We put two in the finals in the hurdles and the 60 and then went two-three in the 600, so I think we matched up okay.

“Morris came back with a great day in the 200. Robinson is starting to get healthy; she said that was the first time she ever made a final. Coming on at the right time, she could be someone that surprises people at conference.”

Austin Peay travels to Charleston, IL, next weekend for the OVC Indoor Championships. However, Gray and junior Breigh Jones [13] will be in South Bend, IN, Saturday, for the Alex Wilson Invitational.
