Rossview Middle Girl’s Basketball season comes to a close with 43-31 loss to Christiana.

The Lady Hawks were energetic in the first quarter. They shot 5-of-10 from the field and put together a 7-0 run to outscore the Lady Cougars 14-6. However, that energy turned into frustration in the second quarter.

Nine turnovers and just one made field goal by the Lady Hawks in the second quarter opened the door for the Lady Cougars, and they took full advantage. They began the second quarter with a 10-0 run and overtook the Lady Hawks 19-17 by halftime.

The Lady Hawks malaise continued in the second half. In addition to producing more costly turnovers, the Lady Hawks primary problem was containing Lady Cougar Alasia Hayes. Hayes scored eight of the ten points in the run that put the Lady Cougars ahead in the second quarter. She went on to score 23 total points in the game.

Alasia and Aislyn Hayes combined to score 32 of the Lady Cougars 43 total points. They also pulled down 16 of the team’s 24 rebounds.

She scored 10 points in the quarter. The Lady Hawks committed only three turnovers in the third quarter, but shot just 3-of-9 from the field.

The Lady Hawks scored less than 10 points in the last three quarters. They trailed by as much as 12 points with 2:25 left in the game after a Lady Cougars 6-0 run. The Lady Hawks continued to battle until the end, but failed to make up any ground.

Five Lady Hawks scored in the game. Brooklyn Thomas led the team with nine points. Jackie Harris scored eight and Macy Rippy added seven points. The Lady Hawks shot 7-of-27 from the field and 3-of-6 from the free throw line in the last three quarters of the game.

Alasia and Aislyn Hayes were two of six Lady Cougar scorers. Aislyn finished the game with nine points. Madison Henegar scored five.
