      Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – One of the greatest Golf Governors in Austin Peay State University history plus a former football standout who returned to his alma mater to help guide the program to its only Ohio Valley Conference title were inducted into the APSU Athletics Hall of Fame, Saturday morning in a breakfast ceremony in the Dunn Center’s Hall of Fame lobby.

      In addition, a former superb basketball player from Austin Peay’s small college era was enshrined as part of the Hall of Fame’s Honors category.

      Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – The young Austin Peay State University men’s golf team has been picked to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll as picked by the league men’s coaches. Meanwhile, the Lady Govs were chosen seventh on the women’s side.

      Defending champion Jacksonville State, with 95 points, was picked to win the men’s championship while Morehead State (77 points) got the nod on the women’s side.

      Ed Bunio forged Hall of Fame playing, coaching career at APSU

      Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – It’s a long way from Carnegie, PA, to Tucson, AZ, in more ways than one. Raised by his grandparents, Ed Bunio needed an athletic scholarship if he wanted to attend college. After his outstanding prep career, Michigan came offering so did Miami…but Bunio chose Arizona.

      Some 2,100 miles from home, Bunio literally went from a small town of barely 5,000 people to a campus of 15,000. Bunio loved the campus, the city and all the extracurricular activities that were available. In fact this new world was eye opening, except during the daytime…during class time.

      Northeast Middle SchoolServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Northeast Middle School’s boys basketball team was down by as many as 11 points in the final quarter, Thursday, January 29th at Kenwood High School, but rallied past Dickson Middle School –including scoring the final 10 points — to take the championship game of the Area 1-AAA Basketball Tournament 34-31.

      The Eagles (14-1) trailed the Dragons 24-14 heading into the final six minutes of play, but got down 11 points, 26-15, after a bucket by Dickson Middle’s Chase Edmission – with 5:32 left in regulation.
