Lady Knights Defense Smothers Ft. Campbell Lady Falcons, 68-31

[1]Clarksville, TN – The Kenwood Lady Knights (4-6) broke a two-game losing streak at home by defeating the Ft. Campbell Lady Falcons, 68-31, Tuesday night. The Lady Knights full court defense overwhelmed the Lady Falcons, generating over 40 turnovers. The traps and steals led to easy points for the Lady Knights and a long night for the Lady Falcons’ offense.

The Lady Knights opened the game executing well on both sides of the ball and their confidence grew as the game progressed. Mikaela Smith made back-to-back baskets in the paint that began a Lady Knights 7-2 run to start the game. The lead expanded to 22-10 by the end of the first period thanks to 14 Lady Falcons turnovers.

The Lady Falcons committed at least 10 turnovers and were held to 10 or less points in three of the four periods. They scored only three points in the final period.

While stifling the Lady Falcons defensively, nine different Lady Knights scored in the game. Analiese Osborne made two of the team’s three, 3-pointers, leading all scorers with 14 points. Jasmine Johnson had multiple steals and assists to go with her 13 points, and Akia Votaw scored nine of her 11 total points in the second half of the game.

Alyssa Holt led the Lady Falcons with six points and 12 rebounds. Both Brianna Wooten and Brianna Smith scored five points.

The only battle the Lady Falcons won was on the boards. They pulled down 32 rebounds while the Lady Knights grabbed 16. The Lady Falcons also shot 11-of-23 from the free throw line.

The 68 points the Lady Knights scored against the Lady Falcons was their second highest offensive total this season so far. They scored 70 in a loss to Ensworth in November. The Lady Knights were averaging 40 points in December before playing the Lady Falcons. This was only their second win this month.
