Northeast Eagles Fall to Mt. Juliet Bears in Home Quad Meet
Clarksville, TN – The Northeast Eagles hosted a quadrangular meet Thursday night against the Hendersonville Commandos, Glencliff Colts and the Mt. Juliet Bears. The Eagles picked up two wins in the meet, but were ultimately grounded by the depth of the Bears in the final dual.
“I think for the most part they did pretty well,“ said Northeast coach Lucas Brady. “We have some basics we need to clean up.“
The Eagles opened with a solid win over a small Colts squad. Then they got an impressive win over the Commandos. In their final dual, they won some close matches and competed well, but gave up to many forfeits against a loaded Bear’s squad.
Northeast Eagles hosted quadrangular meet Thursday.
“We gave up a lot of forfeits,” Bandy said. “It’s kind of hard to compete because your already in a deficit giving up forfeits.”
The Eagles gave up five forfeits to the Bears. They began the dual with a win at 152, but lost subsequent matches at 160, 170, 123 and 126.
The Eagles heavy weights, Dustin Beard and Jefferson Taurine were impressive in their matches throughout the meet.
“I expect Dustin to make state at heavyweight,” Bandy said.
While Bandy liked the way the Eagles competed, he admits they have a lot of room for improvement.
“Fundamentally we did alright,” Bandy said. “For the most part, most of them did well throughout all three matches tonight. I was pleased.”
Saturday, the Eagles team will travel to Nashville to compete at McGavock High School.
