Clarksville, TN – The West Creek Lady Coyotes dealt the Kenwood Lady Knights their second District 10-AAA loss Friday night, 58-40.
The 3-point shots the Lady Knights rely on did not fall for them against the Lady Coyotes. Of their multiple attempts, they only made two for the whole game. Meanwhile, the Lady Coyotes did their damage driving to the basket and either scoring in the paint or at the free throw line when fouled.
Lady Coyotes Ariana Prather and Shayla Smith did most of the damage. Smith led all scorers with 19 points and six rebounds. Prather scored 17. Tyisha Worthy added a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Eight turnovers in the first half helped the Lady Coyotes break away from the Lady Knights. Jasmine Johnson made one of the Lady Knights two, 3-pointers at the end of the first period to bring them within 3 of the Lady Coyotes, 14-11. But a slow start and a Lady Coyote 6-0 run at the end of the second period increased the lead to 30-19 at halftime.
The Lady Coyote’s momentum carried to the second half. They opened the third period with a 10-0 run that made the score 40-19 with just over five minutes left in the period. By the end of the third period, the Lady Coyotes led by 20 points, a deficit the Lady Knights failed to overcome.
Johnson led the Lady Knights with 11 points. She was one of nine different Lady Knights to score in the game. They finished with 16 turnovers and shot 10-of-15 from the free throw line.
The Lady Coyotes aggressive drives to the basket kept them on the free throw line. They finished the game shooting 50 percent (16-of-32).
The win improves the Lady Coyotes to 4-8, 2-2 District 10-AAA. The loss gives the Lady Knights a two-game losing streak. They fall to 3-6, 1-3 District 10-AAA.
