      Leaver, Bunio, Bradley selected for APSU Athletic Hall of Fame

      Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – One of the greatest golfers in the Governors illustrious history plus a former football standout who returned to his alma mater to help coach the program to its only Ohio Valley Conference title have been selected to Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame.

      In addition, a former superb basketball player from Austin Peay’s small college era was selected to the Hall of Fame as part of it Honors category.

      Grant Leaver, a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree who won five individual championships and played in the 2008 NCAA East Regional; Ed Bunio, a two-way player who was an All-OVC offensive tackle for the 1964 8-1-1 club and later was the architect for 1977 Governors’ championship defense, have been elected to APSU Athletics Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Bob Bradley, who was a key member of two College Division NCAA teams in 1960-61, was chosen as this year’s honors inductee.

      Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – This week the Tennessee Titans (2-11) host the New York Jets (2-11). The late afternoon kickoff at LP Field (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 3:05pm CT on Sunday, December 14th.

      This week’s game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. Andrew Catalon will handle play-by-play duties, while Steve Beuerlein and Steve Tasker will serve as analysts.

      High School Basketball Recap for Clarksville - Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – After a brief break for some Turkey, the girls went back to the court to begin district competition last week.

      Last season’s district champs made a strong start to repeat this season with several teams hot on their heels.

      The competition is tough so far with only a few teams struggling to find wins.

      High School Basketball Recap for Clarksville - Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – With the Christmas break looming ahead, local boys basketball teams are lighting up courts with heated competition. District play began last week. Some teams welcomed the chance to get an early edge on their district opponents while others squandered the opportunity.

      Last season’s District 10-AAA regular season and tournament champions look like they want to repeat already. The team keeping up with the pace set by the champs so far is finding ways to win close games, surprising everyone.

      Northeast High School EaglesServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – Northeast High School opened their District 10-AAA game versus Henry County High School, Tuesday, December 9th, by hitting three straight 3s to jump out to an 11-3 lead on their way to a 60-44 victory over the Patriots.

      Nick Green would get things going for Northeast (5-3, 2-1 District 10-AAA) with a three to tie the game for the only time on the night at the 6:34 mark, followed by back-to-back 3s from Jontae’ Brown to give the Eagles a 9-3 advantage.

      Knights Escape The Wildcats, 52-49, Extend Win Streak to Four Games

      Kenwood High SchoolServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – It came down to the last seconds of the game, but the Kenwood Knights extend their current win streak to four games by defeating the Clarksville High Wildcats 52-49 Tuesday night.

      Down by six points at the beginning of the fourth period, the Wildcats battled all the way back to within two points and were down by three with the ball and a chance to tie the game with 2.5 seconds left in the game. After a timeout, the Wildcats were set up to inbound the ball at half court. However, Tyree Boykin intercepted the inbound bass, giving the Knights the victory.
