Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University head basketball coach Dave Loos was part of a six-coach panel Wednesday that spoke at the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Tipoff luncheon, held at the Curb Event Center.
Loos, Belmont’s Rick Byrd, Middle Tennessee’s Kermit Davis, Tennessee State coach Dana Ford, Lipscomb coach Casey Alexander and Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings answered topical questions from radio personality George Plaster, of 102.5 The Game in Nashville who served as emcee of the event.
The coaches then entertained questions from the audience over the final 30 minutes of the event. Proceeds from the event went to the American Cancer Society.
Plaster, with strong assistance from Stallings, auctioned respective packages from the universities. APSU auctioned off a 2015 Governors Golf Classic package that netted $525 for Coaches vs. Cancer Fund.
This is the fourth straight year for the event. The initial year was a breakfast before it was moved to a luncheon. This year’s event was attracted nearly 500 people in attendance.
The American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The program empowers athletic coaches, their teams, and communities to join in the fight against cancer and help raise awareness and funds through year-round educational efforts and fundraising activities.
