Murfreesboro, TN – Since hitting the road after finishing second in the Region 5-AAA Tournament, the Rossview Lady Hawks have won in dramatic fashion.
First, they came from behind to force overtime and defeat Overton to advance to the Division I Class AAA Girls State Tournament. Next, they scored in the final seconds to defeat Morristown West in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
In the semifinals of the Division 1 Class AAA Girls State Tournament Friday, March 7th, at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro the drama continued. The stage was set for the Lady Hawks to advance to their first State Championship Game with the scored tied in the last seconds of the game. However, this time the Lady Hawks were on the losing side of a dramatic victory.
Eryn Foster made the shot, with 3.7 seconds left in the game, for her Ridgeway Lady Roadrunners to defeat the Lady Hawks 52-50.

Like they had done twice before, the Lady Hawks got down early in the game, but continued to fight and took control of the game later by producing turnovers with their smothering defense.
They out scored the Lady Roadrunners 18-6 in the third quarter and had a 3-point lead going into the fourth, 38-35.
But the Lady Roadrunners had consistently out rebounded the Lady Hawks all game. They finished the game out-rebounding the Lady Hawks 34-to-24. When the game was on the line in the last seconds, it was a clutch rebound that gave the Lady Roadrunners the win.
Janie White scored 25 points. It was her third straight game leading the team and scoring more than 20 points.
She scored 8 of her 25 in the fourth period. She was fouled on her last score with 1:16 left in the game, sending her to free throw line with the score tied 50-50 and a chance to convert the 3-point play.
White was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line until she missed that last one. The Lady Roadrunners got the rebound, moved to half court and held the ball for one last play with the score still tied 50-50.
As the clock wound down under 20 seconds, Foster shot a short jumper and missed. Her teammate Alexus Brown got the offensive rebound. She passed it back out to Foster who did not miss the second time.
Foster’s shot fell through the net with less than 3 seconds remaining. Forced to inbound under the Lady Roadrunners’ basket, the Lady Hawks attempted a long pass to White, but the pass was intercepted and time expired.
Foster had 4 points in the game Brandi Beasley led the Lady Roadrunners with 14 points.
Ashley Powers, Mickey Head and Jemiah Harrison all scored 7 points.
The Lady Hawks shot 43 percent from the field including 10-of-17 in the second half. They made 17-of-20 from the free throw line and only 1-of-4 from 3-point range.
The Lady Roadrunners improve to 30-3. The Lady Hawks finish their historic season in the Division I Class AAA Girls State Tournament Semifinals, 28-4.
