A trio of seniors – Chantelle Grey (11:45.00, fifth), Kendra Kirksey (12:00.01, eighth) and Kim Dominguez (12:08.71, 11th) – bumped Austin Peay’s team score to 38, placing them five points behind host and meet champion Chattanooga.

Austin Peay freshman Molly Jordan broke Richards’ two-mile freshman record by five seconds, finishing 12th with a 12:10.09 mark. Each of Austin Peay’s top five finishing marks put them in the top-10 all-time for the two-mile event.

“We completely rewrote the record books on the women’s side,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “Molly really came out and pushed the pace in the second half of the race.

“We talked about going out hard and pushing through the second mile, and they impressed me by getting out pretty quick. We ran really well the second half of the race.”

Freshman Jessica Gray (12:57.65, 18th), sophomore Alexis Eldridge (13:12.98, 19th) and freshman Unjala Lester (13:38.61, 22nd) rounded out the Lady Gov contingent in the first of two races Austin Peay will run in Chattanooga this season.

Austin Peay will run its third race in three weekend’s at next week’s Vanderbilt Invitational at Percy Warner Park, which will mark the mid-point of the cross-country season. The women’s race is scheduled for 10:00am (CT).
