New York, NY — The honors keep pouring in for former Tennessee Lady Vol Candace Parker. The Los Angeles Sparks standout, recently named MVP of the WNBA All-Star Game, was announced as the league’s Western Conference Player of the Month on Aug. 1st.
Parker’s 19.8 ppg. and 9.0 rpg. averages in July led Los Angeles (12-6) to a 7-2 record for the month after a 5-4 start to the season.

Her 178 total points were also a conference best, while her 12 blocks led the league. Parker scored at least 20 points in six of her team’s nine games and averaged 23.2 points over two weeks (five games) to earn back-to-back Western Conference Player of the Week awards.
Highlights of Parker’s month included:
**July 2nd vs. Minnesota: 27 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a 96-66 win.
**July 11th at Tulsa: A personal season-best 30 points to go with eight rebounds in a 94-78 win. Also tied a 2013 league-high with 14 made field goals.
**July 18th vs. Phoenix: Double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds in a 90-84 loss.
**July 25th vs. Seattle: Double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 73-66 loss. Her 14 made free-throws set a career high.
