      NCAA Championship awaits #7 Vanderbilt Women’s Golf

      Vanderbilt to make its fourth consecutive National Championship appearance this week in Athens, GA.

      Vanderbilt CommodoresNashville, TN – Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen and his number seven-ranked Commodore women’s golf team will appear in their program-best fourth consecutive NCAA Championship, an event that begins this Tuesday and lasts until Friday at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, GA.

      In all, this will mark Vanderbilt’s eighth stint at the NCAA Championship, with the Commodores’ best finish coming in 2004 when they finished fifth.  Allen, now in his sixth season, will be attending his fourth consecutive national championship as head coach of the Commodores, and the 10th as a head coach. «Read the rest of this article»

      Nashville Sounds lose to Tacoma Rainiers, 5-2

      Hunter Morris Slugs Team-Leading 7th Homer For Nashville

      Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Nashville Sounds were bested by the Tacoma Rainiers by a 5-2 count on Monday evening at Cheney Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

      Rainiers starter Blake Beavan (2-2) was solid in earning a victory, holding the Sounds to one run on four hits over 7 2/3 innings. The lone blemish on the right-hander’s quality start was a Hunter Morris home run.

      APSU Alumni to host pregame party at OVC Baseball Championship

      Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Office of Alumni Relations will host a pre-game picnic, 2:00pm, Thursday, prior to the Governors’ opening-round Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament contest.

      The No. 26-ranked Austin Peay baseball team won its final 11 OVC games to earn a No. 2 seed at the championships, complete with a first-round bye.

      Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – After hitting .632 and leading the Austin Peay State University baseball team to four victories last week, senior shortstop Reed Harper has been named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

      The Clarksville native posted a multi-hit outing in all four contests last week, going 12-for-19 overall. He opened the week by going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the Govs final regular-season mid-week game at Memphis.
