      APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

      Austin Peay State University GovernorsCharleston, IL – Anthony Campbell scored 24 points, including four second-half three pointers, and Chris Horton recorded a double-double as Austin Peay State University held off Eastern Illinois, 71-64, Thursday night in Ohio Valley Conference basketball action in Lantz Arena.

      The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak and put the Govs at 6-20 overall and 2-10 in the OVC. It also was the Governors first road win this season.

      Nashville Predators shut-out Phoenix Coyotes 3-0

      Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators, behind the stellar goaltending of Pekka Rinne, have shut-out the Phoenix Coyotes in Nashville 3-0.   Another sold out Bridgestone Arena witnessed the Predators play agressive hockey throughout the night.  This was the 19th consecutive sell-out for the Nashville Predators.

      The two teams played pretty even for the first two periods as there was no scoring in those frames.  Phoenix took seven shots on goal, while Nashville slapped six.  In the second period the teams were even with six shots apiece.       Tennessee Volunteers host Kentucky Wildcats Saturday

      Knoxville, TN -  “Rocky Top” will be rocking this Saturday afternoon as the Tennessee Vols host the Kentucky Wildcats at 1:00pm ET at Thompson-Boling Arena.  The Vols will be looking to take advantage of Kentucky’s loss of Nerlens Noel to a knee injury at Florida.

      Tennessee came up short in its bid for the Vols’ first win at Rupp Arena since 2006, as Kentucky captured a 75-65 victory on Jan. 15th.  Jordan McRae led the Vols in scoring for the fourth game in a row, with 23 points.  He became the first Vol since Chris Lofton with four consecutive games of 20 points or more.  Lofton, who sat behind the Vols bench for this game, did it in five games in a row in Jan.-Feb. 2008. «Read the rest of this article»

      Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – Clarksville National Little League will be doing early registrations on February 18th and 19th at Page’s Sporting Goods. Registration will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.

      Clarksville, TN – City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces a new experience for Clarksville area youth and adults.  The “Paralympic Experience” is scheduled for Saturday March 9th, at the Kleeman Community Center.

      Austin Peay State University baseball team to start 2013 campaign

      Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University baseball team begins their 2013 season with a week-end home stand against Big Ten opponent Iowa.  The three game series opens Friday afternoon at 3:00pm at Raymond C Hand Park.

      Lexington, KY -  Kentucky will wear an alternate away uniform design for the Saturday, Feb. 16 contest at Tennessee.
