      Kentucky Lady Wildcats host South Carolina in Play4Kay Game

      Lexington, KY – Kentucky is encouraging all fans to wear pink to increase awareness for the Play4Kay initiative and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, when the Lady Wildcats host South Carolina on Thursday night.  The 7:00pm Valentines night affair is the annual Play4Kay game, and will be broadcast on the UK IMG Sports Radio Network.  A live stream is available to members of All Access.

      Vanderbilt Women’s basketball reports another injury

      Nashville, TN – Vanderbilt junior guard Christina Foggie will be out for the next seven to 10 days, following a knee injury sustained on Sunday, February 10th, versus Kentucky.  Foggie, who becomes the third projected starter for Vanderbilt to miss time with injury this season, will be evaluated again after that period to determine whether or not she will return this season.

      The Mount Laurel, N.J., native is currently second on the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game.  She is also averaging 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and a team-best 1.8 steals per outing.  Foggie led the Southeastern Conference in scoring as a sophomore, posting 17.7 points per contest and earning First Team All-SEC honors. «Read the rest of this article»

      University of Tennessee Vols sweep series with Vanderbilt

      Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Vols completed a season sweep of Vanderbilt tonight with a 58-46 win at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville.  The trio of Jarnell Stokes, Jordan McRae, and Trae Golden combined for 43 points on the night.  Stokes scored a game high 17 points and corralled 10 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season and sixth in a row.

      Stokes is the first Vol with 10 double-doubles in a season since Steve Hamer in 1994-95, who also had 10.

      Tennessee picked up its sixth series sweep over Vanderbilt in the last 13 years. The Vols recently swept Vandy in 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2011. During that span the Commodores twice the Vols just twice: in 2005 and 2010. «Read the rest of this article»

      Nashville Predators host Phoenix Coyotes Thursday night

      Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators will host the Phoenix Coyotes Thursday night at the Bridgestone Arena at 7:00pm.  This is the third of four games at home for Nashville, marking the fifth time in the last six years the Predators have played on Valentines Day.

      Nashville went to extra time with San Jose for the third straight game and sixth time in the last eight outings on Tuesday night.  The Predators – who have needed extra time seven times – defeated an opponent in the overtime period for the first time this season.  David Legwand earned his franchise-record 17th overtime point (9g-8a) with an assist on Colin Wilson’s overtime goal. «Read the rest of this article»

      Tennessee hosts Vanderbilt for “Live Pink, Bleed Orange” women’s basketball game

      Knoxville, TN -Tennessee and Vanderbilt are scheduled to play a key Southeastern Conference women’s basketball game Sunday at 5 p.m. Eastern time at Thompson-Boling Arena. ESPN2 will televise the contest, and WatchESPN.com will provide online coverage.

      Houston, TX – Five-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year and three-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings will represent the Eastern Conference at the 2013 Sears Shooting Stars as part of the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night this Saturday, Feb. 16th at the Toyota Center in Houston.

      Austin Peay State University looks for win on the road against Eastern Illinois

      Austin Peay LogoCharleston, Ill. – The Austin Peay Men’s Basketball team is trying to keep it’s hopes alive for an Ohio Valley Conference tournament berth when they travel to play Eastern Illinois in Charleston Ill. at 7:00pm.  For the Governors to achieve that goal, they have a lot of ground to make up, with very little time to do it.

      After an extremely slow start, EIU has captured four wins in its last six OVC contests to move into tourney contention.  The Panthers now have four straight OVC home contests to wrap up the season.  The Panthers are coached by Jay Spoonhour, who is in his first season as Eastern Illinois’ coach.  He is the son of the late Charlie Spoonhour, who was the head coach at Missouri State, St. Louis and UNLV during an illustrious career. «Read the rest of this article»

      Jordan Brand Classic selects four Kentucky basketball signees

      Lexington, KY – Four Kentucky men’s basketball signees have been selected to take part in the annual Jordan Brand Classic on April 13 it was announced.

      UK Fall signees, Aaron Harrison (Ft. Bend, Texas), Andrew Harrison (Ft. Bend, Texas), Marcus Lee (Antioch, Calif.) and James Young (Rochester, Mich.) were chosen to take part in the annual event set to take place in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center on April 13th.  The game will air live on ESPN2. «Read the rest of this article»

      Kentucky falls to Florida 69-52

      Gainesville, FLA – The Kentucky Wildcats could have lost more than the game last night against Florida as Nerlens Noel, the nation’s leading shot-blocker, injured his left knee in the second half and did not return.  Noel flew back to Lexington with the team, and the extent of his injury will be updated today.

      Registration open for 35th Annual Queen City Road Race

      Clarksville, TN – Preparations are being made for the 35th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for May 4th, 2013.  This year, organizers have introduced a new 7k race for runners.

      The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages.  The 7K and 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus. «Read the rest of this article»
