      Nashville Predators defeat San Jose Sharks in overtime thriller 1-0

      Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators snapped back into the win column with an overtime win against the San Jose Sharks, 1-0 at the Bridgestone Arena.  Nashville ended a two-game losing streak which came after a four-game win streak with tonight’s win.

      Nashville’s Colin Wilson tipped Ryan Ellis’ shot from the blue line past San Jose goalie Antti Niemi 2:08 in the over-time period for the victory.  Ellis carried into the Sharks’ zone as Wilson drove to the net.  He got his stick on it, sending it slowly through Niemi, and his second try to put it in wasn’t needed as it trickled inside the right post. «Read the rest of this article»

      Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior Lauren de Castro, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

      de Castro opened the 2013 softball season with a complete-game shutout against East Tennessee State at Auburn’s Plainsman Invitational, Saturday. She scattered five hits and struck out two without allowing a walk, while going 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and an RBI.

      Kentucky Wildcats face the Florida Gators Tuesday night

      Lexington, KY – The University of Kentucky Wildcats will put their five game win-streak on the line in Gainesville Tuesday night, to face the Florida Gators in a nationally televised basketball game.

      Kentucky earned a hard-fought 72-62 win over visiting Auburn on Saturday after another double-double effort from freshman Nerlens Noel who posted 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.  Sophomore Kyle Wiltjer led five players in double-figures with a team-best 14 points.  Sophomore Ryan Harrow and freshman Willie Cauley-Stein both notched 12 points, with senior Julius Mays pitching in with 10. «Read the rest of this article»

      Vanderbilt Commodores hosts Tennessee Vols on Wednesday night in “White Out” game

      Nashville, TN – The Vanderbilt Commodores play host to their in-state rivals, theTennessee Vols on Wednesday night at Memorial Gymnasium  in Nashville.  The game promises to be a typical match-up between the two teams as Vanderbilt fans are encouraged to wear white to support “White Out.”

      ESPN’S College Gameday tickets available for Rupp Arena

      Lexington, KY – ESPN’s hit Saturday morning show, College Gameday covered by State Farm, returns to Rupp Arena on Saturday, Feb. 23rd.  Tickets to attend College Gameday will be available starting Wednesday, Feb. 13th at 6:00 p.m., online through Ticketmaster and at Ticketmaster outlets.

      GameDay tickets are free of charge and orders will have a minimal service fee attached.  There is a limit of eight tickets per household.  UK students may pick up a GameDay ticket during the already scheduled student basketball lottery on Feb. 11th or at the Joe Craft Center Ticket office during normal business hours on Feb. 12th or 13th.   The Wildcats will host the Missouri Tigers to cap off the full day of activities that evening at 9 p.m. ET. «Read the rest of this article»
