Clarksville, TN – For the sixth time this season, Austin Peay State University junior guard Travis Betran has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week. He finished the weekend shooting 57 percent (16 of 28) from the floor, including 53 percent (8 of 15) from the three-point line. Birmingham ALA -Freshman Nerlens Noel has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week for the fourth-consecutive week it was announced Monday afternoon. Noel helped lead UK to a pair of wins at home this week to run the Wildcats’ winning streak to five games. Noel logged double-doubles in both outings and has now put together a career-long three-game double-double streak.  Nerlens Noel The Everett, Mass., native had 10 points and 10 boards in a win over South Carolina to couple with five blocks. Against Auburn, he logged 10 points on a career-best 8-for-13 day at the free throw line to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds. Knoxville, TN – The Southeastern Conference office announced Monday that Tennessee power forward Jarnell Stokes has been named SEC Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4th-10th.  Jarnell Stokes Stokes averaged a double-double for the Volunteers last week, and his active streak of five straight double-doubles is tied as the longest such streak by an SEC player this season. In dominant performances vs. Georgia and South Carolina, the Memphis, Tenn., native averaged 18.0 points and 10.5 rebounds.
