        Jason McCourtry Titans Caravan 2

McCourty follows rich history of players and team engagement in United Way of Metropolitan Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans and United Way of Metropolitan Nashville announced today that Jason McCourty, cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, will serve as the team’s United Way spokesperson, truly highlighting the tremendous partnership between the two Nashville organizations. In McCourty’s role, he will showcase opportunities for volunteerism and advocacy throughout 2013.

“As a professional athlete, I live by a team mentality every day,” McCourty said. “I’m a team member of the Tennessee Titans, and I’m also a team member of the Nashville community. It’s important to give back to the people who have supported me throughout my career. There is no better way to do that than to volunteer with United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, who is making such a large impact on the people that need it most through valuable partnerships and innovative programs.”

McCourty’s partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Nashville is part of a long-standing relationship between United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and the Tennessee Titans, which started upon the team’s arrival in Nashville more than 10 years ago. United Way Worldwide and the NFL also have a long-standing and rich history of partnership through opportunities such as the annual Hometown Huddle events that occur in multiple cities across the U.S.

“Nashville residents show up for the team as fans and advocates,” said Mike Reinfeldt, Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for the Tennessee Titans, “and we are happy to return that investment by making a positive impact on our community. We believe United Way of Metropolitan Nashville is a tremendous avenue by which to connect those in need with those who want to provide a measurable impact on the community.”

McCourty will participate in a number of volunteer and advocacy opportunities, including taping public service announcements (PSAs) to promote the United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and volunteerism; volunteering hands-on at United Way Days of Action; and participating in other unique opportunities made available through the strength of the United Way partnerships at work daily in our great community.

“Having Jason onboard as a spokesperson for United Way of Metropolitan Nashville will mean a great deal in our efforts to engage the Nashville community,” said Eric Dewey, President & CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville. “He personifies what it means to LIVE UNITED by being an engaged community member, and his partnership will truly magnify the impact our organization can have on those who need it most.”
