        TOP-25 MATCHUP WITH UNC

˘ No. 16/14 Tennessee plays its second game of the week, as No. 22/RV North Carolina comes to Knoxville for a 1 p.m. tip-off on Sunday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

˘ Fox Sports Network will televise the contest, with coverage expanding to Fox Sports Tennessee and Fox Sports Carolinas regionally. Local station MyVLT will simulcast.

˘ It will mark the first TV appearance of 2012-13 for the Big Orange.

˘ The Lady Vols enter with a 5-1 record, having won their last five games, while the Tar Heels bring a 7-0 mark into the matchup.

˘ Youth is a major theme of this meeting, as Tennessee sports only two seniors and a junior in its upper class, while North Carolina counters with three seniors and no juniors.

˘ UT lost all five starters, including three WNBA picks, from last year’s NCAA Elite Eight squad, while UNC saw three starters  and two others depart from a 20-11 club that did not make the NCAA Tournament.

GET READY, ‘CAUSE HERE THEY COME

˘ In addition to the marquee matchup on the court, Thompson-Boling Arena will feature special musical entertainment on Sunday.

˘ Scheduled to sing the National Anthem and perform at halftime are members of The Temptations Revue, a tribute featuring Nate Evans. The group performs a popular show at a theatre in nearby Pigeon Forge.

˘ Evans, who performed alongside the original members of The Temptations, headlines a group that sings such 60’s classics as “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” and “The Way You Do The Things You Do” among an incredible catalog of hits.

        UT-UNC SERIES HISTORY

˘ This marks the 18th meeting between UT and UNC, with the Big Orange holding a 14-3 advantage, including a 6-0 record at home.

˘ This will be the second straight time in the series these two schools have met on Dec. 2, as their last encounter came on that date in 2007.  UT won the battle, 83-79, in Knoxville.

˘ This marks the first time these teams have played with both teams outside the AP Top Ten since 1986.
