CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University’s final home football game at 11 a.m. Saturday features a number of exciting promotions highlighting Ft. Campbell’s Walk to Afghanistan, APSU’s Faculty and Staff, along with the 1977 OVC Championship Governors Football team.

Head coach Rick Christophel will honor 12 Governor seniors prior to the contest, which will be broadcasted nationally on Fox College Sports.  APSU Athletics then will recognize the 1977 Governors Football team following the first quarter.

The Walk to Afghanistan is a collaborative event supported by the friends and families of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. Austin Peay’s GIS Center determined it to be 10,644 miles from Campbell Army Airfield to Afghanistan and participants have formed teams to track and report their mileage.

Members of the 101st CAB will be on hand, Saturday, to participate in pregame activities. Following the game, a half-mile Walk to Afghanistan event will take place inside Governors Stadium. For more information on the postgame event, contact Alaric Klinghard at 931-221-7761 or by email at klingharda@apsu.edu.

As always, all military ID card holders receive free admission to all Austin Peay athletic events by presenting their ID cards at the ticket window. The Governors Club invites all military personnel and their families to stop by Tailgate Alley for a pregame breakfast while supplies last.

Saturday also is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, offering free admission to Austin Peay faculty, staff and their families. Simply present your APSU ID card at the ticket window to redeem your complimentary tickets. In addition, the Faculty Senate is hosting a free tailgate in Tailgate Alley prior to the game.
