Second Harvest Looks to set Record for Largest NFL Food Drive Sunday at LP Field

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans, UnitedHealthcare, Kroger and Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee are teaming up this Sunday, Nov, 4 at LP Field in hopes of having the largest NFL Food Drive.  Titans fans can participate by donating non-perishable food items at LP Field prior to kick off.

“If every fan attending the game donates at least one can food item or jar of peanut butter, Titans fans could raise 68,000 pounds of food making it the largest food drive in the NFL and in our community,” said Jaynee Day, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

UnitedHealthcare and Second Harvest volunteers will be stationed at seven areas around LP Field to collect food donations, beginning at 10 am until 15 minutes after the noon kickoff.

“Our fans have been great supporters of our various drives and with the increased need seen by our partners at Second Harvest, we are encouraging our fans to more than ever remember our food drive and bring these needed items to our game,” said Titans Executive Vice-President Don MacLachlan.

Area Kroger stores will have pre-packaged food donation bags available and will also accept donations in-store.  Second Harvest also offers fans and supporters the opportunity to donate through a virtual food drive now through November 4 at www.secondharvestmidtn.org/titansfooddrive.

In addition, you may also show your support by making a cash contribution to the food bank at any Middle Tennessee area Kroger store now through Nov. 17th. A $1 donation will provide 4 meals, and a $5 donation will provide 20 meals.

“We are making it simple and easy for everyone to help this year by offering opportunities to donate online, at Kroger and at the game,” said Tasha Kennard, Vice President at Second Harvest.  “All donations collected will help feed hungry children, seniors and families in Tennessee during the holiday season.”

Most needed food items include:

• canned tuna or chicken
• peanut butter
• canned vegetables
• cereal
• canned fruit
• pasta
• canned soups & stews
