The Fort Campbell Falcons won in great offensive-style over the Hart County Raiders 57-8 Friday night at Fryar Stadium in a Class 3A playoff game.
Next week the Falcons will host South Warren in the 2nd round of the playoffs at Fryar Stadium.
The Ft. Campbell Falcons (9-2) won the toss and fumbled the kickoff. But it took Hart County (4-7 ) the six minutes to get down the field only 20-25 yards.
And with 5:32 in the first quarter, Hart County’s Josh Shoulders handed the ball to Chris Bradley for a 13 yard touchdown. Shoulders completed the 2-point conversion and gave the Raiders 8-0 lead. The scoring drive took 10 plays and 35 yards.
Fort Campbell’s Christian Berry returned the ball for 72 yards. That led to Falcon QB Jonathon Jethroe’s pass to Triston Luke for a score. Jethroe also scored the 2-point conversion and tied the game at 8 eachwith 5:11 in the first quarter. The scoring drive took only 1 play of 15 yards.
With 54.1 seconds left in the first quarter, Jethroe handed the ball to Berry for a 21-yard touchdown. David Sahms kicked the extra point was good and the Falcons led 15-8 after a coring drive took 4 plays and 43 yards.
Jethroe set FCHS up with a 35-yard punt return. Then with 6:34 in the second quarter, Berry plowed in for a 7-yard touchdown run. Sahms’ kick counted and it gave the Falcons 22-8 lead. The scoring drive took 7 plays and 28 yards.
With 1:09 in the second quarter, Jethroe passed for 33 yards to Berry for a touchdown. The extra point by Sahms was good and extended the Falcons lead to 29-8 going into halftime. The scoring drive only took 1 play and 33 yards.
In the opening of the third quarter, the Raiders fumbled and the Falcons recovered, and then Falcons fumbled and Raiders recovered all in first 7 seconds of the third quarter.
Luke’s 32-yd run with 8:44 in the third quarter led to another Berry score, this one from the eight. The extra point by Sahms was good, and gave the Falcons a 36-8 lead. The scoring drive took 5 plays and a total of 42 yards.
Berry then scored on a 72-yard touchdown and ran in the 2-point conversion that put the Falcons up 44-8. The scoring drive took 2 plays and 76 yards.
With 10:57 in the fourth quarter, Luke set the single season scoring record for Fort Campbell when he sprinted for a 58-yard score. The extra point by Sahms was no good, but still the Falcons led 50-8. The scoring drive took one play and 58 yards.
With 8:30 in the fourth quarter, Lee scored a 23-yard touchdown. The extra point by Sahms was good, and gave the Falcons the final score 57-8. The scoring drive took 4 plays and total of 32 yards.
Notes: Luke’s touchdown with 10:57 left in the game was the record breaking 30th Rushing TD in a single season for a FCHS player, breaking Antonio Andrews total of 29 TD in 2009.
